Say what you mean - live what you say

Beginnings...

Welcome to the blog. Thought I would start things off with a brief relating of the journey thus far. Music has always been a part of my life. One of my fondest memories (things always look better in hindsight - I was terrified at the time) was when after a few drinks, my Aunt Harriet would force me to sing for the waitress at some local bar. Guess it was an early version of Kareoke! In k-12 and College, I was always involved in band, orchestra, choirs, and of course folk groups. The first official group was the "basil - Thyme singers" (god - what were we thinking???). That was followed by "The Folkways" (where I wrote my first song which will NOT be published on this site), "Graf and Schuldt", "Hogan's Goat", "Graf & Van Delinder","Cyrano", and "Calico". In between these various incarnations I of course performed as myself. Come to think of it, I have always performed as myself. The one constant through it all has been my friendship and partnership with David Van Delinder. David and i met in 1970 - but didn't actually start making music together until several years later following the break-up of Hogan's Goat. We had just finished our last night at the Earl of Old Town in Chicago, when my partner informed me he was leaving to start a different group and taking Eddie our bass player with him. The next day I called David to see if he would be interested in sitting down and bouncing a few tunes off each other. When we did, something just clicked. Its been clicking ever since.
